God Bless the Logganiko Society from the family of
Louie Pappas and Elaine Georgelos family in Florida
The finals of the "FIRST® LEGO® League" robotics competition took place on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 March in Thessaloniki with the participation of the 58 top teams that distinguished themselves from a total of 8 regional competitions in Sparta , Volos, Rhodes, Crete, Athens, Xanthi, Ioannina and Thessaloniki.
The Logganiko Society was able to assist the two students with origins in Logganiko and their team with their trip to Australia for the FIRST® LEGO® League Asia Pacific Open Championship, which was held in Sydney, Australia from June 30 to July 2, 2023. Below is more information on the two students.
Here is a link to the article about the competition:
Ismini-Maria Morsink-Paloumpa was born in Athens on May 15, 2006.
She lives with her parents in Sparta, and is an excellent student in the 11th grade of Senior High School. She is thinking of studying in the field of Health Sciences. She likes playing music, dancing, and painting. For the last year she has been participating in her school's Robotics team and finds Robotics and its applications very interesting, especially in biomechanics.
She has two older siblings who are studying Medicine and Mechanical Engineering.
When she visits Loganikos, she admires the dense fir forest and the unlimited view!
She is happy that the roots of her family tree are also there.
Tryfonas Tsoumakos was born in Molaous, Laconia on March 21, 2006 and he lives in Sparta with his family. He attends the 3rd General Lyceum of Sparta and is an excellent student in the 11th grade.
He is involved in sports, specifically shot put and Greco-Roman wrestling in which he has won 3rd place in the Panhellenic Wrestling Championship. His favourite subjects are Maths and Physics-Science. He also loves Greek rock music.
He has an older brother who is in grade 12 and a younger brother in grade 7. He became involved this year for the first time in the field of Robotics and showed particular interest in the operation and design of the robot.
He finds his ancestor’s village, Loganikos, beautiful and pleasant, especially in the summer months.
